    What The Bushcraft Company Do

We deliver real outdoor adventures to schools across the country, from stunning locations both in the UK and overseas.

All of our courses are inspired by the natural environment, with residential adventures in The Woods, on The Coast and in The Mountains, as well as Overseas Adventures in The Forest, The Desert and on The Island. We also run Team Days on school grounds and specialised Skills Courses in Wilderness First Aid, Wilderness Cookery, Advanced Bushcraft and Expedition Skills.

We remember the adventures of our childhood like they were yesterday and we want to recreate that magic for the next generations, with exciting and educational activity programmes that harness the energy and imagination of your students.

Whether they are foraging for food in the ancient British woodland, mackerel fishing off the Dorset coast, or climbing Mount Snowdon, your students will become fully immersed in the environment and develop an affinity with the natural world.

Our mission is to make the next generation think differently. Think Outside.

    Who The Bushcraft Company Are

Alex McBarnet founded The Bushcraft Company in 2008, after many years learning, training and teaching under the leadership of famed Bushcraft Instructor, Ray Mears. Alex's outdoor education began in our native woodlands, which provided the perfect training ground for him before he embarked on trips around the world, and put his skills to the test in environments including the Arctic and the jungles of Borneo.

Since founding the company, Alex has become a recognised ambassador for real outdoor education through his dedication to providing children with experiences that shape and enhance their development. It is his energy and vision, as well as a team of like-minded people, that drives the company forward,

and each year The Bushcraft Company welcomes new and loyal visitors, discovers new locations and creates new programmes.

    The Bushcraft Company Ethos

The Bushcraft Company is characterised by a forward-thinking, dynamic approach to outdoor education, coupled with a real love and understanding of the natural world. We create real outdoor adventures that are wholly immersive and whichever environment you choose, from The Desert to The Mountains, your students will develop the skills and knowledge they need to live, play and learn within it.

Over the years we have captured the imaginations of teachers, students and parents across the country and it is the personal relationships we have with them that sets us apart.

With our highly skilled team of dedicated instructors and our innovative approach to outdoor education, we have become a reliable source of good old-fashioned adventure.

    THE WOODS

The Woods are where The Bushcraft Company began, and today we suggest you do the same. These trademark adventures focus on the ancient skills of Bushcraft Survival, learning how to use natural resources and primitive techniques to live comfortably in the woodland environment.

By combining a jam-packed activity programme with social time, group discussions and communal meals around the fire, we cultivate positive relationships between the students and encourage teamwork.

With strong links to classroom learning, these courses allow students to uncover the myriad connections between the curriculum, the natural environment and key life skills. Whether they are learning how to light fires using flint and steel, camping in shelters they have built with their bare hands, or navigating their team through the woodland, your students will discover a sense of confidence and self-sufficiency.

If you are looking for entry-level team bonding, an end-of-year residential, or simply a unique learning outside the classroom experience, our adventures in The Woods are the best place to start.

    THE COAST

Situated on one of Britain's famous coastlines, this course offers an exciting mix of water sports, wild camping, and fireside feasts. With sandy beaches, open seas and acres of woodland to explore, residentials on The Coast are the perfect next step for students who want to enhance their Bushcraft skills, and try their hand at something new. From beachcombing and mackerel fishing, to kayaking and coasteering, your students will experience the very best of the British coastline.

Throughout the course the students will be encouraged to step out of their comfort zones and to set personal goals as a way of mapping their progress. By day, they will be engaged in a mix of activities, from crossing the forest on a high wire course to exploring hidden tunnels, caves and plunge pools. By night, they will be cooking the day's catch and roasting marshmallows over an open fire.

    THE MOUNTAINS

Home to spectacular scenery, rugged mountain terrain, and access to some of Britain's best-loved climbing trails, this secluded lakeside camp in North Wales sets the scene for a gripping adventure. Whether they are setting up a fly camp in the peaks, climbing up a rock face, or trekking to the summit of Mount Snowdon, this course will keep your students enthralled from start to finish.

With an emphasis on team building and leadership skills, we will expect the students to work closely with their teammates to complete each activity, using critical thinking and communication skills to achieve their goals.

This remote mountain setting is best suited to students who have already experienced our adventures in The Woods, as it presents a more demanding environment in which to practice their skills. As well as putting their Bushcraft skills to the test, the students will learn the fundamentals of mountaincraft, giving them the confidence to explore the great British landscape, as well as the knowledge they need to enjoy it safely and responsibly.
