The Best Outdoor Spaces to Visit in Half Term

Getting Kids Outside

Half Term Adventures

We love exploring the great outdoors, which will come as no surprise. But most of all, we love inspiring young people to get into nature and discover the natural wonders of this beautiful country. So here are some of our favourite rural spots for you to explore this half-term.

1. Jurassic Coast, Dorset

The Jurassic Coast is England’s first natural World Heritage Site and is home to some of the country’s most beautiful scenery. Magnificent cliffs, secret coves and sandy beaches make it the perfect playground for an adventure. And with 95 miles of coastline, there are plenty of spots to choose from, although our favourite is Studland Beach.

2. Elan Valley, Powys

An unspoilt rural idyll, the Elan Valley is alive with wildlife and offers a great expanse of open countryside. Walking trails will take you through a beautiful landscape of moorland and woodland, reservoirs and dams, giving you plenty of opportunity to enjoy the abundance of flora and fauna.

3. Cape Cornwall

Cape Cornwall is the only place in the UK where two oceans meet. A steep climb at 229 feet, the views are stunning on a clear day so make sure you take some sturdy shoes. It’s also well worth looking out for the many varieties of seabirds that breed on the nearby Brison rocks - also responsible for a number of shipwrecks.

4. Botany Bay, Broadstairs, Kent

With a history of being a favourite with smugglers, Botany Bay is now a great place for families to explore. With a long stretch of sandy beach and a good spot to take a swim (although it might be a little cold at this time of year) you could spend days enjoying this beautiful bay. And if the tide’s out, you can spend hours hunting for fossils and looking for sea creatures in rock pools, which is exactly what we’d be doing

5. New Forest National Park, Hampshire

A haven for wildlife and flora and fauna, walking around the New Forest is enough to keep you and your family entertained. But for those of you looking for a more adventurous day out, there are also plenty of places to bike ride or horse ride.

If you do make it to any of these beautiful spots, or find your own perfect places for an outdoor adventure, do let us know and maybe share a picture on our Facebook page here.

Have a great half term!
