The Bushcraft Company is a young and enthusiastic organisation that achieves the very highest standards in outdoor education. We train our staff to deliver a unique set of skills and unparalleled customer service to our clients. As an employee we are keen to help you develop your own skill set in your chosen field. We operate in The Woods, The Mountains, The Coast and abroad so there is the scope to develop in all environments and to take on new responsibilities as we expand each year. If you are intelligent, hard-working and have a passion for working with young people in the outdoors there is a wealth of possibilities to grow with us.
Due to the large amount of applications we receive on a daily basis we apologise if we do not get back to you. All sucessful candidates will be contacted to arrange an interview.
Your role will blend customer service, education, practical skills whilst also managing staff and communicating with the other members of the Field and Operations teams. As a result we are looking for individuals with a unique skill set, however the rewards of the job are ample. You will rise with the sun through the trees and help prep the morning's fires and organise staff into their various tasks until the students wake, when greet them with a hot and hearty breakfast. Having prepared your sessions for the morning you will then deliver a series of stimulating, interactive and educational sessions for the students on topics such as fire making, shelter building, hunting and trapping and first aid.
You could be demonstrating the bow drill technique, helping rescue casualties from a crashed plane, building bird snares or butchering rabbits and much else besides. After the evening's hot meal and pudding there could be further activities before the night-time routines, such as ensuring lanterns are lit and the students are ready for bed. Once all the children are abed in either tents or the shelters you helped them construct, you will have a debrief round the fire with staff and teachers. Finally, after a long and enjoyable day, get yourself and your team to bed under the stars.
We will provide you with a high level of knowledge and skill in bushcraft, wilderness cookery, educational techniques, health and safety and first aid but you will need to bring a hard working, enthusiastic and energetic attitude, an eye for detail, great communication skills and a passion for working outdoors and with children.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Please send a CV and a covering letter to recruitment@thebushcraftcompany.com quoting which role you are applying for.
