As an outdoor education provider we take first aid very seriously, and we make sure that on each course there is at least one member of staff with a remote area first aid qualification, as well as a qualified Incident Manager on 24 hour call. A number of our senior instructors also hold the FPOS (First Person on the Scene) qualification.
In a recent survey, the Countryside Alliance found that Health & Safety concerns were still the main barrier to learning outside the classroom for a staggering 76% of teachers. This is a barrier we would very much like to eliminate. We are going about this by minimising risk and by spending our time sorting out the paperwork so that our clients don't have to.
We have comprehensive safety procedures and risk assessments for each of our activities and all of our staff undergo regular training in each area. Our safety policies have been developed by drawing from the expertise of our members of staff, using their experiences of Bushcraft, adventurous activities, traditional crafts, forestry, and the military to produce a set of comprehensive Health and Safety systems. These systems allow us to provide our clients with a safe and enjoyable experience, whilst always keeping the spirit of adventure in mind.
If you would like more details about our Health and Safety prior to booking, we are always happy to send you our Risk and Insurance literature and to answer any questions you might have. Once you have booked with us you will receive these documents as part of your post-booking pack.

Widespread consultation with those involved with children and young people's services revealed the need for a common scheme which could provide an assurance as to the quality of the educational experiences on offer.
