Food with The Bushcraft Company

Food at The Bushcraft Company

Food is a pivotal part of what we do, and helping young people develop a healthy attitude towards food is central to our philosophy. As a result, all of our meals are made from fresh, nutritional ingredients and we source as much produce as we can from the local area. This is a brilliant opportunity for young people to try new foods, learn new cooking methods, and gain a new perspective on where food comes from.

All of our meals are prepared and cooked on site over open fires, by one of our allocated Catering Managers, all of whom hold food hygiene certificates.

Each day the students will enjoy three healthy meals, as well as snack breaks throughout the day. There is always plenty of drinking water at camp and we make sure that each child has access to five portions of fruit and vegetables every day.

A typical day's menu would include bacon and eggs for breakfast, fresh trout with corn on the cob and jacket potatoes for lunch, and supper of beef stew with fresh vegetables. Students will cook at least one meal a day themselves, and on the longer residential and wilderness cookery courses they would also enjoy foods such as roast venison, whole salmon, wild crayfish, nettle soup and pizzas cooked in our outdoor clay ovens.

We pride ourselves on being able to cater for all special requirements, whether they are dependent on religion, allergies, or simply preference. We are particularly used to catering for a Halal, celiac, or lactose free diet, as well as vegetarians and pescetarian. The Bushcraft company does not just offer a vegetarian option, we offer a range of delicious, well-thought-out meals that are renowned amongst our clients as being ridiculously good. All you have to do is let us know what the requirement is, sit back and enjoy.
